Usage

Domestic rainwater collection is a viable solution to our ongoing need for water.

Rainwater is obviously ideal for watering the garden, washing the car and cleaning hard surfaces. With very little treatment, it is also suitable for flushing toilets and washing clothes. There is a great opportunity for you to conserve mains supplied drinking water, with a commensurate saving on water charges, by installing a rainwater collection system.

Typical household water consumption

A history of droughts, lack of capacity in existing reservoirs, a growing population and an aging, leaking infrastructure all make domestic rainwater collection a compelling solution to our ongoing need for water.

An estimated 27% of household water consumption is used outdoors, 20% in the laundry and a further 16% is used to flush the toilet - that's over 60% of average household consumption.
